What is a 2 axle sleeper truck?

It’s a long-haul truck that has a compartment large enough for the driver to lay down and rest.

Sleeper compartments were invented when new regulations passed in the late 1950s obligated drivers to take mandatory rests. Originally, sleepers were quite small. But as the long haul trucking industry grew, so did the size of the sleeper cabin.

Today, sleeper cabins come in a variety of sizes and often correspond to the type of hauling done by the heavy duty trucks. For drivers who are working harvest or long hours within a short distance from home, a 36” to 48” sleeper might be just fine for taking a rest. For truckers who live on the road the majority of their time, sleepers can be over 86” long and resemble an RV.
